Reflection: One Body
Picking up from our Circuit Celebration, our reflections look at the theme of One Body through 1 Corinthians chapter 12.
One body
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you’, nor again the head to the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’ 24But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honour to the inferior member, 25 that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together with it.
1 Corinthians 12 v21, 24-26
Paul in this letter is clear that everyone has something to offer the church. Everyone is needed, even those who may seem to be ‘weaker’ or less important, because God doesn’t see things the way humans do. As a body, we should support and uphold those who are struggling because we love them and recognise their God-given value.
Are there people in your church or community who may seem to be left out or neglected? Perhaps due to age, or illness, or financial circumstances. Maybe there is actually something valuable they could offer the church, if we can find creative ways for that to happen.
