Reflection: Press on

Our reflections are based on the material for Bible Month: Philippians.

“Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of  God in Christ Jesus.” 

Philippians 3, v13-14.

Like Paul, we are on a journey. Even if we have followed Jesus all our lives, we know that we still aren’t perfect. Our righteousness doesn’t come from our own actions, but from acknowledging Jesus and following him- even when this makes our lives tough. Paul calls us to keep going, to follow Jesus’ example and try to be more like him. Not because we can ‘earn’ salvation, but because making the effort will change us to be more like Jesus.
