Our reflections are based on the material for Bible Month: Philippians.
“Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.”
Philippians 2, v14-16
Paul calls on the Philippians to copy Christ’s- and his own- humility and servant-heartedness. Rather than seeking status, he calls for them to be obedient to God, even when it is uncomfortable. Through this self-giving love, he says they ‘shine like stars’ amid the selfishness of the world. Paul uses Timothy and Epaphroditus as examples of other people who have given up a lot to faithfully follow Christ.
What might it look like for you and your church to ‘shine like stars’ in the world?
