Reflection: Psalm 130

crossg97f8a3b761920

"I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in God's word I put my hope."

Sometimes it feels like we've made a mess of our lives. Psalm 130 acknowledges this.

"If you, LORD, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you."

Sometimes, it can feel like God is taking a long time to respond to our cries for help. Sometimes it feels like God isn't there at all. All we can do is wait, and hope, trusting in God's word and past actions to give us strength to hold on. The psalmist encourages God's people to put their hope in God's unfailing love and promises of redemption.

Can you think of any particular bible passages, hymns or past experiences that encourage you to wait in hope? Thank God for them and ask for patience to keep waiting hopefully.
