"After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest."
Luke 10 v1&2
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the challenges your church faces? By the amount of work there seems to be compared to the small number of people available to carry it out? Jesus sent his followers on ahead of his journeys, sending them to tell people the good news, to preach and heal and do what he had been doing. He sent them in pairs so they could support and back each other up. Do you work with others to share the good news of Jesus?
Jesus told his followers to pray for more workers, because there was so much work to do to bring in the 'harvest' God has planned. Do you pray for more people to join in God's work? We can take some encouragement from this passage, because the reason we need more workers is because there is a plentiful harvest waiting. What might that look like for you and your church?
